  • $25,000 per person–maximum paid to one person’s bodily injury
  • $50,000 per accident–maximum paid for more than one person’s bodily injuries
  • $25,000 property damage–maximum paid to other vehicle or any other object you collide with

Optional Coverage–Not Required by Law

Uninsured Motorist Coverage

  • This coverage provides payment of medical expenses to you and passengers riding in your car provided the other vehicle is not insured and the other driver is at fault.

Property damage coverage for your vehicle

  • Collision–This coverage pays for damage to your car as the result of your car colliding with an object such as another car or a tree.  This can be expensive coverage depending on what type of auto you insure.  You are responsible for paying your deductible which is usually $500 at least.  Many people drop collision coverage on older vehicles.
  • Comprehensive–This coverage pays for damage to your auto from almost all other causes, including fire, severe weather, vandalism, floods, theft and glass breakage. Deductibles also apply to this coverage.

Other Options

  • Optional coverages may also include rental reimbursement and towing expenses.  The amounts of coverage varies from insurer to insurer.
  • Medical payments coverage (optional) pays medical expenses for you or others injured or killed in an accident while riding in or driving your auto. It will also cover you or family members if you are struck by an auto while walking or while riding in another car.  The amount of coverage is listed on your policy.
